Oakwood Hares and Bears

My name is Janet Brown. I have been making bears and hares for 14 years. I've always loved and collected bears, but thought I would give it a go and make a bear. Neadless to say the first one didn't turn out quite as expected and looked more like a lion than a teddy. I still have him today and he is somewhat special to me.

The name "Oakwood" came from living in a gamekeepers cottage in the middle of an oak wood. It was idylic to say the least and gave me lots of inspiration. A friend commissioned me to make a hare for his daughter, so I designed a pattern, and as they say, the rest is history........................

I really love every minute of creating my bears and hares. My bears are all small limited editions and my hares are open editions.

My other interests are doting on my young Jack Russell "Maggie", watercolours and the love of the countryside. My partner and I keep lambs, ducks, geese, quail, chickens and gundogs, (2 labradors and 2 cocker spaniels).

I hope this gives you a little insight into "The Hare Lady" as I have been called.
